Jon Gold – Our Love Blooms In Bossa (2026)

Jon Gold, the jazz virtuoso, believes falling in love “is like dancing without music” on his new single, ‘Our Love Blooms in Bossa’.  On this Bossa Nova track, this line becomes a memorable refrain, proclaimed by Brazil’s fastest-rising vocalist Marina Marchi. Like a great film performer, Marchi embodies this line and all of Gold’s lyrics and transmits the wonders, tenderness, and euphoria of a blossoming new romance. The single begins with Guilherme Hoss’s guitar strums creating that iconic Brazilian rhythm. This makes a sparse sound bed for Marchi and Gold’s interplay of colourful organ melody and playful scatting.

A hit on the bell by drummer Bruno Tussle acts like a film edit and transitions us into the cinematic lyricism of Gold, zooming in on the joy of the continuous proof of a love meant to be. Marchi sings, “Your hands fit in mine/like the rings hold Saturn.” With those hypnotic rhythms, gentle, driving brushes, and the elastic bass playing of Jackson Lourenco, together with Marchi, the words become scenes of the kind of intimacy that unites and defines in this way as if the outside world doesn’t exist. On the bridge, Gold’s keys and Lourenco’s shapeshifting bass are the sonic representation of the rush of limitless desire.

On the second verse, the lyrics go from English to Portuguese, and reflections fall away as the singer moves into sensual moments of connection: “This love is born in the tone of moonlight and/Slide on me with heat/You leave me speechless.” With the similar power that Astrud Gilberto yearned, Marina Marchi sings with exuberance. Lourenço’s bass playing is the secret weapon, reinforcing the joy and sensuality of Marchi’s singing, while exteriorising these emotions. His playing deepens the warmth of the newfound romance.

Each time the bridge returns, Gold’s understated, shimmering organ melody, Marchi’s optimism, and the band’s constant work to keep us grooving and feeling make the track feel like a perfect homage to Bossa Nova. ‘Our Love Blooms in Bossa’ is an enjoyable track for those still falling in love with this music or to discover something you’ll never forget.
