Kaiser and the Machines of Creation – Who Decides (2020)

From their upcoming album Flowers and Lies, Kaiser and the Machines of Creation have unleashed ‘Who Decides’ on the world. A long time coming, this album was started in 2011 and only finalised in 2017. This single gives you a rocking taste of what you can expect from the new album.

While Paul Kaiser is still the voice and mind behind the band, there is a completely new line-up compared to their last releases. The third incarnation of the band is complete with Steve Anderson (bass), Simon Timoshenko (drums) and Matt Redmond (keys). While the band has a new line-up, the rocking power of their music continues and pulses through you from start to finish.

The pulsing rock vibes of ‘Who Decides’ hit you from the opening note. The guitar line gets you hooked as it draws you into the track before becoming lighter and melodic. The change in the melody for the verse is wonderful and dips before building up again to crest during the chorus. The raucous tones of the chorus let you fly to the vocals. Later in the single, there is this horn section that elevates the single to a whole different dimension.

Kaiser’s vocals are smooth and have this classic rock vibe to them. During the verses, he smoothly leads you through the lyrics only to rise above for the chorus. There is something hypnotic about his vocals. As he soars for the chorus, he grabs your hand and draws you with so you end up singing along.

‘Who Decides’ is a classic rock blast from Kaiser and the Machines of Creation with melodic guitars, soaring vocals and an amazing horn line. The single gets you excited for the album and leaves you wanting to listen to it again and again.
