Midnight Miles – Call On Me (2026)

Existing at the intersection of “tenderness and recklessness, swagger and vulnerability… rooted in classic rock and fiercely modern”, Canadian fivesome Midnight Miles isn’t just a band; they’re a statement. Midnight Miles might have started releasing music in 2023 with their debut single, ‘Coming on’ – at least according to Spotify – but we’re a little late to the party, only discovering their punch of music now. Join us as we delve into the latest addition to their discography, ‘Call On Me’.

Known for their energetic, high-powered, rambunctious and hopelessly infectious live performances, Midnight Miles can win your heart with jaw-dropping shows, and ‘Call On Me’ brings the oomph of the gig to your ears as you sit in your comfortable armchair. Recorded and produced by Justin Wiley, the single weaves together heavy bass, pounding drums, and scorching guitars, with rich vocals dancing across the tune. Interestingly, while the track has that hit between the eyes of individual instruments, its forcefulness exudes from the unity and natural camaraderie of each player. It’s like they know exactly what the other’s doing before they even do it.

Inspired by the spirit of classic rock bands, ‘Call On Me’ is ferociously vintage and, while Midnight Miles might not be among the iconic artists at Woodstock, the lads have an underlying heart that makes them a perfect match for meaningful festivals. I can easily imagine people pumping their fists, singing along, and moving in unison to the track. However, just as ‘Call On Me’ is made for stadiums, it is perfect for long road trips or the track you play when sitting down on a Friday night with a cold beer.

As I said, this is my introduction to Midnight Miles, and I was slightly sceptical. Many classic rock-inspired bands make their way across our virtual desks, and not too many stick around; Midnight Miles is sure to stick. No mention of an upcoming album just yet, but I’m happy to work my way through their back catalogue while waiting in hope.
