Moon and Aries – High Noon (2026)

Should you dream of an artist that combines the silkiness of Sade, psychedelic rock of Portishead, trip-hop atmosphere of Massive Attack and the obscurity of Kate Bush, then your dreams have been answered in Moon and Aries. A transatlantic duo – Jordana Moon in Canada and Tom Aries in Germany – Moon and Aries are known for their merging of cinematic electronic production, organic instrumentation, and no AI contributions. As emotional and engaging as their melodies, this pair is unafraid to delve into themes of connection, transformation, and identity – all eagerly explored in their latest single, ‘High Noon’.

Bridging the organic world with the “broader electronic cinematic soul” of Moon and Aries, ‘High Noon’ is the first track on their upcoming EP, Prairie Souls (set for release in November 2026). Described as a “cinematic desert dream inspired by themes of transformation, truth and stepping into the light”, the single ”…unfolds like a modern western beneath a glowing summer sky – part reflection, part journey, and part invitation to embrace what lies beyond fear.” So, for me, a fan of the Golden Age of Westerns, ‘High Noon’ might fit as the soundtrack to an episode of Wagon Train or Laramie, if the shows were open to something smouldering and soulful.

Produced by Tom Aries, with Chris Kung (mixing) and Francois Rocheteau (mastering), ‘High Noon’ glides with the sensuality of jazz, the wistful atmosphere of trip-hop, and a relaxing slip of indie-pop waving its hand in the mix. Joined by saxophonist Hanna Marchand (also known as Joko Magic) and acoustic guitarist Peter J. Mitchell, there is a strong acoustic flavour to the tune. A simple guitar strums along, while the sax truly brings the oomph factor with its sexy, silky, entrancing sound. Add Jordana’s soulful vocals, and you are dragged back to those smoky jazz clubs of yesteryear: a glass in your hand, a smile on your lips, and a song in your heart.
