No Drinks For Jimmy – Broken (2026)
Built on the innate understanding of each member’s musical influences, diversities, and the way they play instruments without any communication, No Drinks For Jimmy is a band of instincts, innovation, and a damn good sound. Founded by brothers Dan and Doug Wilson (bass and drums, respectively), and joined by guitarist Joe Chichetti and vocalist Kurt Lobdell, the US-based group is known for honest, energetic rock songs balancing power, emotion and melody.
Following the single, ‘Year Of Me (The Brunswick Song)’, ‘Broken’ is No Drinks For Jimmy’s first step into 2026. Recorded, mixed and mastered by the band, no producers, engineers or AI required, ‘Broken’ is entirely authentic, original and honest. Spanning the breadth of the US, from Arizona to North Carolina, Florida and Maryland, each individual recorded and pieced their instrumentation into a sonic puzzle named ‘Broken’. Join us as we delve into the track.
With a wistful drag back to rock music of the 1990s and early 2000s, ‘Broken’ is a concoction of crashing drums, powerful guitars, and bold bass reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, Good Charlotte, and Stone Temple Pilots. Yet, as much as a nostalgic breath lingers, there is a distinctive contemporary alt-rock edginess making the song timeless and universal. In other words, the lads leap time and distance, reaching generations of yesteryear and the present day.
Alright, so the melody is a hard-hitting rush of rock music, each element entwined in the sonic tapestry while still threading through with individuality. The song itself is weighty, with Lobdell’s vocals making it more full-bodied; however, it is the inspiration and theme that kicks things up. A song about hitting the lowest of the low, the deepest depths of despair, and desperation at its utmost, ‘Broken’ is about being… well, emotionally broken. No Drinks For Jimmy explains:
“When you’re broken, you start your own 12-step program. This is a song about hitting rock bottom… A song about confronting fractured relationships, difficult truths, and the struggle to move forward”
