Paul Louis Villani – Two Hearts (2026)
Seasoned, veteran, mature and experienced – all in all, it describes a person doing what they do for years, and Paul Louis Villani falls into this category. Immersed in music, Australian Villani has almost 50 years of experience in the music industry, playing his guitar since the 1970s and writing original songs since the 1980s. Over the years, he performed with various bands, but it is his solo work that draws our attention. Last year, we spoke to Villani about his EP, The Other Side of Silence; today, we listen to his latest release, ‘Two Hearts’.
Following his 2026 singles ‘There’s Not Enough Black In Your Images’ and ‘Makes Me Happy’, ‘Two Hearts’ is a solid country song with some rock tinges shining along the edges. Self-composed, recorded and produced, the track is one of duality…well, sort of. Melodically, the full-bodied concoction of bold drums, a pulsing bassline, and soaring guitar oscillates with a simplistic, finger-picking guitar layered over the verses. Riding in a sonic river, you seem to shift from one wave to another, from weighty and rich to bare and deliberate, then finally merging into a single sweep of country-driven music.
I find this duality of sound, then rushing into a united harmony, rather intriguing as it captures the theme perfectly. Two voices or hearts meet, collide, crash, and finally find a soothing sense of comfort. Viallani explains:
“…’Two Hearts’ does not romanticise perfection. It leans into collision and friction. The unspoken electricity between two people who know each other too well to pretend… This is a song about choosing connection again and again, even when it would be easier not to.”
In addition to the single, Paul Louis Villani released an official music video for ‘Two Hearts’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
