Pocket Lint – Amethyst Cameo (2026)
It’s odd how sometimes seemingly unrelated occurrences result in something unique, intriguing and unexpected; hence is the case with Pocket Lint. What began as a gent sitting on his balcony, teaching himself to create cameos from amethyst with sandpaper, ultimately resulted in the solo project Pocket Lint. In other words, the formation of amethyst pocket lint really landed up in something more profound, intimate and poignant: Pocket Lint. Hailing from the UK, singer-songwriter Mark Heffernan began painting in sounds with his genre-hopping musical vehicle, Pocket Lint. Join us as we delve into his most recent single, ‘Amethyst Cameo’.
Following his well-received single ‘Cyanometer’, Heffernan joined producer Adam Whittaker to release ‘Amethyst Cameo’. Wandering through a sonic forest, listening to ‘Amethyst Cameo’ is like peeping into an enigmatic bubble of shimmering synths, keyboards and drumbeats. Twinkling and hazy, the air is kaleidoscopic and somewhat wistful; however, Heffernan’s bold vocals add a deliberate, emboldened beat steadily pushing you along in the 80s-inspired new wave sound (think The Smiths).
Considering ‘Amethyst Cameo’ is one of the tracks from Pocket Lint’s upcoming album, Wunderkammer, the fact that it feels like a separate room with wonderful curiosities is entirely apt. Heffernan notes that Wunderkammer is ”…based around the idea of a Wunderkammer or cabinet of curiosities and each song is an exhibit within that collection”. ‘Amethyst Cameo’ dips into that area of obsession and the exhibition of one’s compulsiveness. Heffernan mentions that this single ”…is about the obsession of creation, the compulsive need to make music…”
If you are searching for something upbeat, high-energy and danceable, then ‘Amethyst Cameo’ isn’t for you. Steady, slow, the plod of obsession that sits in your brain and keeps you trudging on – that’s what Pocket Lint offers with ‘Amethyst Cameo’. I was eager to hear more after listening to the single ‘Cyanometer’, and I am looking forward to Wunderkammer.
In addition to the single, Pocket Lint released an official music video for ‘Amethyst Cameo’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
