Roxercat – Pearls (2022)

Drawing together their experiences in the music industry, renowned performers Price Jones (vocals), Stan Lassiter (guitar) and Bill Francis (bass) share an insatiable, intoxicating sound with the masses in Roxercat. Veteran musicians, the lads and lady know how to turn people’s heads – one example being the composition and performances in the rock opera The Fortunate Few. As individuals, Jones, Lassiter and Francis received critical acclaim, and they continue to do so as Roxercat. Come with us as we delve into their debut single ‘Pearls’.

Recorded at Sound Emporium Studios by Price Jones and Grammy award-winning producer/engineer Clarke Schleicher, ‘Pearls’ is the title track off Roxercot’s debut EP. Incorporating sprinklings of jazz atop a grunge meets classic rock sound, ‘Pearls’ is a dive into the old-school rock world. The flowing arrangement of guitars, drums and Jones’ rich vocals are easy on the ear with laidback vibes. I would compare Roxercat to other artists, but their established status and sophisticated arrangement bring a sound that is purely Roxercat.

Just as the melody is smooth, chilled out and soothing, so is the profound message Roxercat presents in ‘Pearls’. A sonic expression of empowerment, optimism and fulfilling your dreams, the positive haziness engulfs you in a warm hug directing you where to go. Price Jones explains that “…no matter the current status of relationships with the people who come and go throughout your life, you can still wish them happiness. Life is about surrounding yourself with people that believe in you – and you in them – and always holding on to your dreams…”

Sincere, sentimental and filled with a reflective charm, ‘Pearls’ is an elegant track, and I cannot wait for more from Roxercat.
