Solar Flare Alert – Molto Caldo (2026)
Blending contemporary electronic production with live instrumentation, Italian duo Solar Flare Alert find the sweet spot between organic funk and synthetic pop – nu-disco in a word. The push and pull of real piano, bass, guitar and organ with programmed layers creates a balance between warmth and precision; moreover, the interplay of Erika Neri and Davide Ungaro enhances the tug-of-war, making their music a collision and cohesion of dynamic sound. Join us as we begin our day with Solar Flare Alert’s new single, ‘Molto Caldo’.
Following their well-received single ‘The Way You Move’, ‘Molto Caldo’ is the second of three singles leading to Solar Flare Alert’s upcoming LP (set for release in June this year). Produced by David Ungaro and Salvatore Palermo, with mastering by Andrea Pellegrini, the new single has a strong leaning to vintage funk entwined in a disco weave. The sonic concoction is a mass of shimmering instruments, each adding its own light to the mix. Salvatore Palermo’s guitar and bass slice with shining red, and the keyboard keeps the pace with a bright blue. Raw and hard-hitting, the organic funk dive is rhythmic with a harmonic groove.
The electronic production adds a modern edge to the well-textured and layered tune, but it is the percussion that stands out in my eyes. Hip-swaying and bodyrocking, Christian Palermo’s live percussion adds a Latin flavour to the funk-induced single. The melody seems fluid, but this percussion adds a bit of a kick and obscure feistiness.
Amidst the melodic swirl, Neri’s vocals dance across the melody, but also seemingly get lost in the dance, almost drowned in the bold instrumentation. You can hear her warmth and vibrance cleverly alternating between English and Italian lyrics. However, if you are listening for her entirely, you’re going to have to dig through the guitars, bass and percussion to really feel her voice.
Exciting and lively, ‘Molto Caldo’ is a fun song to get anyone dancing, and I am interested to hear more from Solar Flare Alert.
