Tyler McGinnis – Like Make Believe (2026)

Known for his remarkable voice and powerful live shows, singer-songwriter Tyler McGinnis can overwhelm audiences with his story-driven songs and engaging melodies – overwhelm in a good way. A seasoned Americana and alt-country musician, performing up to 25 gigs per month, McGinnis shares his music with the masses regardless of whether it’s your first or 50th time hearing his work. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘Like Make Believe’.

Eager to explore and celebrate the sentimental side of reality, McGinnis does some soul-searching with his songs. His previous single, ‘Admiring Ghosts’, is one of reflection and introspection, questioning whether we are living in the past and admiring younger versions of ourselves instead of focusing on the present. ‘Like Make Believe’ takes a turn, looking at the future instead of reminiscing on yesteryear. The US-based artist explains:

“‘Like Make Believe’ is my most vulnerable release to date and the first true love song I’ve ever put out. I wrote it in about 30 minutes while on vacation in Hawaii a few months before proposing to my now-fiancée. At its core, it’s about rediscovering joy, innocence, and even parts of myself I hadn’t felt in a long time through loving the right person.”

Just as ‘Like Make Believe’ was penned in a single day, the track was recorded in a single day – sometimes the music just flows, and the first try is the best. Produced at Bear Creek Studio in Washington with Tim Graham and mastered by Rachel Field, ‘Like Make Believe’ is a tender, endearing tune, weaving McGinnis warm acoustic guitar with Jesse Gallaway’s steady bass, smooth drums, and a harmonica slipping across, enhancing the country vibes.

‘Like Make Believe’ is an easy, laid-back, really chilled-out song that warms your heart and slaps a sincere smile on your face. If you’re a fan of country music, then McGinnis’ honey-soaked vocals embedded in a moving melody will fit well on your personal playlists. If you aren’t a fan, I recommend you hit the play button anyway. Who knows, a secret country fan might be lurking beneath the surface waiting for the right song. This is that song.
