The Missing Diamonds – When You Fall (2026)

Asking that we let the music speak for itself, Midlands-based The Missing Diamonds are a collective of seasoned songwriters bringing a “reminder of what rock and roll was always meant to be”. Following a year of writing songs, building a sound, and preparing to unleash it on an unsuspecting public, the Burton-On-Trent foursome rushed ahead with hard-hitting, raw rock in 2025’s ‘Little Wonder’. Skip ahead a year, and the lads have built a reputation for energetic, confident performances, moving melodies, and an inspiring, spirited nature that should carry on far into the future. Join us as we delve into their most recent release, ‘When You Fall’.

Produced by Dan Gallagher, Kyle Munsie (vocals), Andy Crowe (guitar), Dave Middlemiss (guitar), and Conor Smith (bass guitar and drums) bounce off one another in ‘When You Fall’. When I say “bounce off”, I don’t mean literally, but rather their camaraderie and instinctual understanding of each other’s musicality. Instead of having us sit in our armchairs and listen to the track, The Missing Diamonds take us to the studio for a live session; to sit in the corner and love the bold bass, soaring guitars and pounding drums with a grin on our faces.

Proving Gallagher and The Missing Diamonds as melodic alchemists, ‘When You Fall’ captures the core of 1970s rock and roll. Each instrument weaves together in a harmonic concoction, yet also stands out with individuality. The guitar solo about midway needs to be mentioned, really throwing the raw passion of old-school rock in our ears. Interestingly, ‘When You Fall’ ebbs and flows with rugged power, but there is a softer, smoother, almost whispered sense of vulnerability that lingers in the tune.

The instrumentation is strong, and the lyricism is as inspiring. Kyle Munsie’s rich, bold vocals find a sweet spot between honey-soaked and grit. Empowering and optimistic, the warmer, comforting sound speaks to the theme of “picking you up when you fall”, but the grittier side unpacks the feelings of isolation, loneliness and being all at sea.

So, overall opinion of The Missing Diamonds and ‘When You Fall’? A song perfectly suited to roaring crowds, yet also made for those long nights when you need a boost.
