The Slow Day – All We Left Behind (2026)
Breathing life into the raw, unadulterated passion for music, The Slow Day captures the core of classic rock with weaves of lingering contemporary alternative rock. Hailing from Manchester, Christopher Adams, Adam Moss, and Paul Barker began turning heads with moving melodies in 2019; however, things fell by the wayside, and The Slow Day stepped away in 2020. Stoking the embers of a musical fire, the lads returned last year with an energetic live show, and in 2026, they hit streaming platforms with singles reaching international ears. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘All We Left Behind’.
Hindsight is a marvellous thing, or so they say; it turns regrets into learning experiences even while you sit head in hands thinking, “what the hell?” The Slow Day embraces this learning curve, delving into the complexities of life and relationships in ‘All We Left Behind’. Adam Moss explains:
“It’s a song about learning that the wrong relationships aren’t wasted time. Every mistake, every heartbreak and every bad decision teaches you something. The older you get, the more you realise those lessons are what allow you to fully appreciate the person who finally makes everything make sense.”
Produced by Lewis Brooke, with Pete Maher taking on mastering duties, ‘All We Left Behind’ follows the well-received single, ‘Antidote’. Proving that Aristotle had a point when he said that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, each instrument in ‘All We Left Behind’ brings confident individuality. The drums simultaneously anchor the track while also adding a pulsating crash, the bold bass keeping the pace and making a stand, the guitar soaring across in classic rock glory while still caressing listeners in a sweet embrace. Including the rough, but honey-soaked vocals, you can easily feel the power of everything. Yet, the sweep of music has a harmonic, rock symphony with every item working in beautiful unity.
One thing I find particularly interesting in the song’s duality is how the track has sophisticated production while retaining a zealous live rawness, with an instinctual camaraderie breathing life into ‘All We Left Behind’. I am eager to hear more from The Slow Day.
