Til Now – Bored (2021)

When a relationship comes to an end, there are a lot of complicated feelings that can emerge. With his single ‘Bored’, Til Now picks up the threads of the end of a long-term relationship and considers that things may be less complicated than they seem. A reflective single, it delves into memories, hardships in a relationship and the realisation that you are okay with the pain that comes at the end.

While the single is based on personal experience, there is a universality to the tale that makes it extremely easy to connect with. The alternative rock tones bring a bright and upbeat vibe that showcases the nuances of Til Now’s sound. Using the skills that he has honed since he started playing and writing music at age 12, Aaron Manzano brings his passion and heartfelt tones to our ears.

‘Bored’ has your head bopping to the guitar line as soon as it starts. There is this youthful energy in the music that you can’t help but get drawn into. The beats are toe-tapping and there are these wonderfully complex guitar runs that add a curious feeling to the track. The upbeat and vibrant feeling of the melody is a little at odds with the vocals at times but perfectly captures the overall message of the track. There is an uncomplicated vibe to the music that you are able to just enjoy from start to finish.

While you are moving and tapping to the melody, the vocals tell a slightly heavier tale. The lyrics delve into the end of a relationship and the painful emotions this can bring. This turns into the thoughts that all you become is a faded memory of a relationship someone used to have. While a bit depressing, this turns into a reflective yet upbeat realisation that the end of the relationship is the best thing for everyone. The emotive movement of the lyrics is enhanced by the vocals that shine with a youthful understanding of what has happened. The almost cheery chorus has you singing along before you know what has happened while the heartfelt performance touches something deep in your chest.

Til Now has you bouncing around to his sound with a cheery flow that tackles some rather heavy emotional topics in ‘Bored’. The music has a youthful energy that gets your toes tapping to the beat and your shoulders swaying. The vocals bring a heavier sense to the track before turning cheery on the chorus to lift your mood.
