Track of the Day: Aderyn – Cross Your Mind (2026)
From a sheep farm in the Brecon Beacons to live music venues such as The Finsbury in London, Aderyn captivates audiences with her energetic, confident performances and enthralling melodies. After trading the hills for hi-hats, the UK-based artist began as a drummer in a grunge band, then went full-on firecracker mode as an alternative-pop musician. Now, this is my first time listening to Aderyn, also known as Lisa Martin, but she has been building a loyal following since 2020 with the single ‘Lucozade ’ – or that’s what I found on Spotify. Come along as we begin this musical journey with Aderyn’s latest single, ‘Cross Your Mind’.
Produced by Gethin Pearson, ‘Cross Your Mind’ joins ‘FEEL NOTHING!’ as the next track off Aderyn’s upcoming EP, HOT PINK! While ‘FEEL NOTHING! Tackled the complexities of unemotional situationships, this track brings raw emotion as Aderyn struts across the ashes of that relationship, whether her ex wants her to or not. When speaking about ‘Cross Your Mind’, she explains:
“Sometimes you just know in your gut that someone still thinks about you, whether they like it or not. My favourite lyric in the song is “strutting in my thigh high glitter boots” because that line is so me…. Aderyn gives me this confidence I don’t always have in real life, and writing this song, I really let her take over. I wanted the listener to picture Aderyn stomping through someone’s mind, completely unbothered.”
I wouldn’t say Aderyn’s music reminds me of a particular band or bands, but it does bring a nostalgic drag to the 1990s pop-rock scene – ‘Cross Your Mind’ fitting perfectly on the soundtrack of 10 Things I Hate About You or Reality Bites. For me, the one thing I’ll take from this single is not Gareth Rees’ guitar, Jamie Wilkins’ bass, Gethin Pearson’s synths or Lisa Martin’s drums; it’s the combination of all with some cheeky winks in its jagged edges.
In addition to the single, Aderyn released an official music video for ‘Cross Your Mind’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
