Track of the Day: The Hilder – A.M.C

With a reputation for soulful, energetic and addictive melodies, UK-based foursome The Hilder melds elements of indie rock and pop in their sound. Founded last year, the group is relatively new with only a few tracks to their name, however, they are already building a loyal following. Featured in notable publications such as RGM, Right Chord Music, Rising Artists Blog, Our Sound Music, When The Horn Blows and various playlists, The Hilder is turning heads on an international scale. The latest addition to their well-received discography is ‘A.M.C’.

Already having experience in previous bands, the lads brought together their passion for music in The Hilder. In an interview with Zap! Bang! Magazine, the group discuss their desire to write unique, personal songs that they enjoy themselves. The aim to write songs they would choose to listen to definitely adds a more personal aspect to the tracks connecting with listeners through their music.

Hot on the heels of their track ‘Call It What You Want’, ‘A.M.C’ is a bright, laidback, jovial indie-pop track made for the summer; however, there is a profoundness that lies beneath the bounciness. Combining pounding drums with powerful guitars, the indie-rock single sends you soaring from the first second. While there is an abruptness to the track, The Hilder finds a line between flowing and brash in the complex melody.

In their debut track ‘Lost On You’, The Hilder touched on the lack of trust in modern-day relationships and in ‘A.M.C’ they look at mental health among men in modern-day society. While the issue of mental health conditions in men is acknowledged nowadays, it remains a taboo subject – men aren’t supposed to cry, are they? Inspired by the mental health organisation Andy’s Man Club, the more serious topic juxtaposes a bright, breezy melody adding a lightness to the deeper theme. Elegant and engaging, The Hilder stands out among their contemporaries with another intriguing and sincere single. I can’t wait for more from this group.
