Chelle – TROUBLE (2026)
Refusing to be pigeonholed, cloistered or stay in a single lane, singer-songwriter Chelle brings an unapologetically fun attitude to the masses. With a voice reminiscent of Blondie, the cheekiness of Gwen Stefani, and that Irish charm bound in a mischievous wink, she can win you over and leave you grinning. Her single, ‘Ain’t Lovin’ You’, is critically acclaimed as a song to get you moving with feisty flair. Produced with Bluebird Studios, Chelle brings that rumble, tumble and trouble with her latest single ‘TROUBLE’. Join us as we turn up the volume and jump straight in.
Not necessarily slow and steady, but not necessarily upbeat and bouncing, ‘TROUBLE’ finds that sweet spot where you can gently sway about and know there’s a fire bubbling beneath. A swirl of synths and beats forms the foundation while Chelle’s dulcet vocals dance across, retaining a bite but mellowing out all the while. Leaning strongly toward a solid pop style, I can imagine this track hitting and staying on pop playlists and charts. Then again, there’s an off-kilter clip that kisses with a chilled-out reggae vibe and a smooth 90s R&B tinge.
We can go round and round talking about the sleekness of ‘TROUBLE’, but the question remains: how does it make you feel? It’s not as hard-hitting as Chelle’s 2025 single ‘Kiss Me Again’, nor is it as emphatic as ‘Ain’t Lovin’ You’. No, it’s more tranquil lounging meets full-bodied bubbliness. It’s not a track to have you jumping about on the dancefloor, nor is it one to keep you twirling about the room. Instead, it’s a mellifluous lull that has you humming along, tapping your toe, and wistfully rocking while you turn the volume up. I promise you, the neighbours won’t mind.
I’ll admit, I’m not the greatest fan of modern-day pop music. Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga don’t take my fancy. However, Chelle brings the best of the 1990s/2000s to my ears while weaving a contemporary edginess for all those SZA fans. Highly recommended!
