Mollie Elizabeth – Run Rabbit (2026)
One of the reasons I honestly love my job as a music reviewer is the fact that I find new musicians every day. Sometimes we’re a bit late to the party, but other times we become fans of bands before anyone knew they were cool. When it comes to Mollie Elizabeth, I’ve found another little gem.
While she might have the appearance of a fairy with a wistful smile and an air of fragility, there is far more beneath the delicate surface. Like I said, I’ve only just discovered this gem, but her profound melodies and poetic lyricism make her seem comforting, familiar, and something charmingly calm on dreary days. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Run Rabbit’.
Recorded and produced by Joshua Murty, ‘Run Rabbit’ is a mishmash of mad emotion as you find yourself running down a kaleidoscopic sonic tunnel twisting, twirling and losing your mind (in the best way possible). Bombastic and slightly raucous, Mollie Elizabeth is joined by Murty (guitar, bass, drums, piano and percussion), Mark Rudin (horns), Sara Kawai (harp), and the Budapest Scoring Orchestra bring the strings to the melody. Yes, it’s loud and brazen, but there is also an underlying soothing to the track that seems to bind everything in a toe-tapping way.
Melodically, ‘Run Rabbit’ is bright and theatrical, and Mollie Elizabeth’s obscure vocals reach us with honey-soaked richness, but a hint of vulnerability can be felt in the wistful tinges. Interestingly, this duality of whimsy and ferocity perfectly expresses the weighty theme. Mollie Elizabeth explains:
“’Run Rabbit’ may sound whimsical on the surface, but underneath the melody is a slightly darker story about growing up in a home that wasn’t exactly a storybook. It sits in that strange emotional space where imperfect childhoods leave behind imperfect habits.”
In addition to the single, Mollie Elizabeth released an official music video for ‘Run Rabbit’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel.
