Linda – Snowflakes (2021)

During the initial stages of a band’s formation, it is common to hear a variation in sounds as the artists hone their style. This is highly evident with singer-songwriter Linda‘s first string of singles throughout 2020. Ranging from the bluesy ‘Chasing Dreams’ to a rock-driven ‘My Time’ and the contemporary pop meets RnB track ‘Snowflakes’. Regardless of what you like, it’s almost a given that Linda will grab your attention in some way.

Hungary-based vocalist Linda joined multi-instrumentalist Abel to produce charming, whimsical and infectious music. Beginning the year with a bang, ‘Snowflakes’ is a soothing, flowing and melodic blend of harmonic textures and tones. While the track has a strong drumline bringing steadiness to the single, the incorporation of percussion and guitars adds a robustness to the track without being too overpowering.

Penned 15 years ago, the lyrical content shows a depth to Linda while floating along a smooth melody. Using well-placed dips and rises in the instrumentation, ‘Snowflakes’ builds a kaleidoscopic soundscape with blinking fairy lights (courtesy of a music box) in the background. While one casually floats along the river of music, it is Linda’s vocals that add warmth to the mix. Touching on people’s mistakes and learning from these experiences, the bold vocals present a poignancy with a lingering feeling of nostalgic optimism.

It is difficult to find a comparison for ‘Snowflakes’ considering the innovative toe-tingling, goosebump-inducing effects of the track. All I can say is you will have a smile on your face after listening to Linda.
