Louise Aubrie – Vienna (2026)

While singer-songwriter Louise Aubrie might flit between the UK’s London and the USA’s New York and Los Angeles, she never leaves a single iota of passion behind regardless of where she is. From her 2010 album, Fingers Crossed, to 2019’s When I Don’t Love You I’ll Let You Know and 2021’s Antonio, her music connects with audiences. It reaches into your head and heart and takes you on a moving journey through intriguing sound and poetic words. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Vienna’.

At just over three and a half minutes of indie-rock music, ‘Vienna’ might not be as heavy as her single ‘Midnight Calls’, yet it has an underlying profoundness that hints at a rock-inspired weightiness. As with her previous singles, Aubrie is not just playing you a song to be enjoyed while sitting in your armchair; she is holding out her hand to take you on a musical journey. Joined by Keith Scott (guitar), Solomon Walker (bass guitar), Roger Joseph Manning Jr (keyboard), and Charlie Paxson (drums and percussion), Aubrie gently guides you into a kaleidoscopic sonic tunnel. Bright with soaring guitars, a bold bass, steady drums and fluttering keys, the track has a wistful tone leading you to a heady “I’m floating” place. Yet, as much as there is freedom to the track, Aubrie’s vocals keep you grounded, secure, and cared for in the music.

Melodically, ‘Vienna’ is fun on a plate; the song to rub away any mid-week blues. Lyrically, it isn’t that far behind, but it is also thought-provoking within its easiness. Like ‘Midnight Calls’, ‘Vienna’ is a song of self-discovery, change and empowerment, although it looks at taking things slowly, drifting between the intense emotion of relocating to a new city and the thought of savouring life and “going with the flow”.

Produced by Ken Sluiter, with mastering by Dave Collins, ‘Vienna’ is a song for everyone to enjoy. Given that Aubrie has an upcoming album, I am eager to hear more from this talented artist.

In addition to the single, Louise Aubrie released an official music video for ‘Vienna’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
