Randy C Moore – High Cost Of Low Livin’ (2026)

Fame, fortune, the high life with constant parties, exclusive fashion, huge mansions, and the best of everything – that’s the dream we’re sold and so readily believe it’s the ultimate. Think about it: no one wants to be the lady in the downstairs apartment, watching Bonanza on repeat and knitting tons of cardigans, do they? It’s the brand-wearing influencer living in that massive house with actors on speed dial that most want to be. Excessive living, the best of the best, but is it all that? Randy C Moore unpacks the not-so-nice parts of excessive lifestyles in his single ‘High Cost Of Low Livin’.

Produced by Mason Cooper, Barry C Sanders, and mastered by Eric Wolf, ‘High Cost Of Low Livin’ is a bold Americana tune with bluesy guitars and crashing drums. Not necessarily intricate or complex, ‘High Cost Of Low Livin’s melody is, well, easy on the ears. However, within that flowing sound is a brash, hard-hitting punch, inserting a “kick in the butt” punch to the mellifluous arrangement. For me, the harmonic combination of guitars and drums is warming, but it is the crescendo into a guitar solo that stands out. Halfway through, the blues-driven guitar adds a heavier tone to ‘High Cost Of Low Livin’, and it forges ahead near the end, rounding things off with a twangy cut.

Showcasing his seasoned skills as a remarkable musician, the US-based Moore finds that spot between concern, disappointment, and an “oh, hell, what just happened” tone in this sophisticated tune. It’s spicy but sleek, confident but a little listless, and bold with a warm, comforting underbelly where you just know this is life laid bare. The amusing little “woah” at the end has the markings of someone who has just played their heart out, enjoying every second, and, well, the song’s rich weightiness with honey-soaked vocals make it as entertaining for the listener as it does the musician.

As you have probably guessed, I really enjoyed ‘High Cost Of Low Livin’; in fact, I’m quite the fan of Moore’s soul-stirring music in general. I’m eager to hear more from Moore, but for the moment am content to indulge in this single.
