Sophia Bolinder – My Own Company (2026)
Inspired by the likes of Chaka Khan and Toni Braxton, Sophia Bolinder has an R&B soul with feisty disco beats, all wrapped in a powerful attitude of “this is me, take it or leave it”. While the Swedish singer-songwriter released her debut single, ‘What I Want’’, just over one year ago, she is already turning heads, collaborating with industry professionals, and offering music that speaks to the human spirit. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘My Own Company’.
Following her well-received single ‘I Can Feel It’, Bolinder joins forces with producers Archie Norris and Jack Buster Weston on ‘My Own Company’. Unlike ‘I Can Feel It’, ‘My Own Company’ slows the pace down a notch, shifting from the disco swirl to something far more soulful. A mellifluous ride of twinkling sounds, a bold beat pulsates in the background, while guitars swim along with rhythmic groove, and a sharp, horn-like burst breaks through the comfortable weave; soft and gentle, but with a cheeky bite.
The melody itself is charming, elegant, and intimate in its toe-tapping, head-nodding tune. What really brings a nostalgic blush of yesteryear’s soul style is Bolinder’s rich vocals. Honey-soaked and vibrant, her alto dances across the tune, replacing any vulnerability with a “hear me roar” notion. A perfect execution of ‘My Own Company’s timeless themes of resilience, strength and optimistic self-discovery after challenging, almost defeating loss. Sophia Bolinder explains:

So, overall opinion of Sophia Bolinder? Based on ‘My Own Company’, Bolinder is a bit of a firecracker – bright, bold and ready to take over with swoon-worthy, lush vocals. A highly recommended artist that we will keep our eye on.
