The Ulkerrs – Love Me Crazy (2026)
Discovering a passion for music at a young age – 7 years old, to be precise – Daniel Fokin turned into a multi-instrumentalist, playing a plethora of instruments and exploring as many musical styles as were available in his hometown of Gedera. As the years progressed, Fokin came to appreciate more styles, trained in musical composition at Berklee College of Music, and evolved as an artist eager to hone an eclectic craft. Using moving melodies with intimate storytelling, Fokin began connecting with audiences in a relatable, personal and endearing way. Dedicating much of his career to the production and composition of TV and film soundtracks, The Ulkerrs appears as another side to Fokin’s multi-faceted musical persona. Following the 2025 album, Playing Is Fun, Fokin steps into 2026 with ‘Love Me Crazy’. I would say that the single drags us back to vintage rock and roll, but a strange contemporary edge can be felt in the soundscape. Moreover, a duality of simplistic barebones and colourful intricacy exists in ‘Love Me Crazy’. A steady drum anchors listeners like a backbone in the sparse melody; however, the clip of a lead guitar weaves across, almost dancing in the chilled-out vibes.
Melodically, ‘Love Me Crazy’ is an emotional experience; it’s dropping you into that moment around the campfire when a friend takes out their guitar, strums along, and you feel the beat in your heart. Interestingly, the single is about the raw passion of a relationship. Intricate, complex, but covered with that earnest zeal of pure, honest and resilient love. Fokin explains: ”My new single is… an emotional, uplifting love story about the challenges relationships face, the choices we make, and the strength that comes from choosing love through difficult times.”
So, what is my official opinion of The Ulkerrs and ‘Love Me Crazy’? Charming in its oddities, poignant in its stripped-back stance, and comforting in its underlying warmth, ‘Love Me Crazy’ has earned Fokin another fan. Highly recommended!!
