Track of the Day: Alla Igityan – Another Monday (2026)
With her last single ‘Peacekeeper’, singer-songwriter Alla Igityan created a song for the people-pleasers; those who absorb tension, scan for danger, and keep protecting others while trying to hold everything together. With ‘Peacekeeper’, Igityan celebrated life and relationships in their complexities, intricacies and challenges. Today, she takes us on another path leading through existential angst, but this time it’s a little more abstract. Come on the journey with ‘Another Monday’.
The Bangles didn’t like the proverbial Manic Monday, while The Boomtown Rats emphatically stated that they really don’t like Mondays, and The Carpenters hated those rainy days and Mondays – so, I’m guessing Monday isn’t the most welcome day of the week. Tiring, exhausting, and oh so melancholy, it’s not surprising that most people would rather avoid the unwelcome beginning of the week. In ‘Another Monday’, Igityan explores that desire to leave the exhaustion behind – something rather relatable. She explains:
“What would happen if your dream of living carefree on a paradise island actually came true? I call ‘Another Monday’ my existential island escapism song.”
Lyrically, ‘Another Monday’ eloquently describes the exasperation of any Monday. Melodically, there’s a little more to it. Produced by Charles Austin, with mixing and mastering by Sergey Gasparyan, ‘Another Monday’ is a toe-tapping folk song with a gentle drumbeat backing a light-hearted guitar. Languid, tranquil and a breath of fresh air on dull days, the track really seeps into your skin and removes stress. Moreover, Igityan’s innocent, almost childish vocals prompt a whimsical smile as she sings about the dreary stuff and desperate desire to escape.
Sincere, serene, and endearing, Alla Igityan once again weaves evocative sounds with engaging words. It might not be Monday, but listening to ‘Another Monday’ is a chilled-out way to end a very long week.
