Track of the Day: Liv Crash – You Fool (Mad) (2023)

Pivotal moments – that’s what changes and shapes our lives. One pivotal moment and everything you know or think you know can fall away to reveal a new road in life. For musician Liv Crash, it was when he listened to Iron Maiden at age 17. Inspired by guitarist Dave Murray, Crash suddenly found his passion for guitars and guitar-driven music. A few years later and we have a unique, original and innovative artist blending rock, funk and jazz in his intoxicating music.

Featured on notable press like Eat This Rock, FV Music Blog, Music For All, Illustrate Magazine, Given To Rock and various playlists, Liv Crash is reaching audiences across the globe. Now, he has another offering for his international listeners in the new single ‘You Fool (Mad)’.

Taken off his upcoming album, Cause even in this album, ‘You Fool (Mad)’ follows the well-received ‘Shakespeare Inspired The Boobs’. Unlike ‘Shakespeare Inspired The Boobs’, ‘You Fool (Mad)’ is softer, mellow, gentle and soothing. Interestingly enough, while Crash’s previous material has a brash abruptness in the frantic melody, this new single retains a brash sliver in the mellifluous soft-rock melody. For me, it is evident in Crash’s intriguing vocals. Rich, bold and powerful, Liv Crash’s voice whispers melancholy and despair while still acting as that voice of reason calling you out as a fool who “did it all for love” and is mad.

It would not make sense to go through a Liv Crash review without mentioning his natural skill with a guitar. Tinges of David Gilmore seep through the guitar solo invoking painful emotions, inner turmoil, desperate fragility and a soul-searching intimacy – yes, all in a guitar solo. Yet, the old-school vintage rock sound is interwoven with a heartfelt modern-day indie-rock ballad creating something fresh but familiar.

In addition to the single, Liv Crash released an official music video for ‘You Fool (Mad)’. You can view the video below or on Liv Crash’s YouTube Channel.
