Vincent J. Rigney – Redefined (2026)

Sometimes it’s best to just move forward; to focus on the present and the future. When it comes to music, leaning into an artist’s back catalogue can be exciting, inviting, and might reshape your opinion of the musician. With Vincent J. Rigney, we’ve tended to keep heading forward, listening to his new stuff. Today, we step backwards a few months and press play on his single, ‘Redefined’.

Preceding the well-received album, Songs From The Water Tower, ‘Redefined’ is a solid rock song binding the power of classic rock with a modern-day edginess. Self-recorded and produced, the track has the rhythmic weave of a sonic tapestry, yet, at the same time, there is a sparseness fluttering within the song. Perhaps it is how Rigney’s rugged vocals dance across and slice into the concoction of bold drums and soaring guitar that brings the barebones aspect hidden in the musical folds.

One feature I love about ‘Redefined’ is how the overall vibe is raw, honest, and glints with the authenticity of a guy just sitting back, playing his guitar, and telling stories. A personal narrative, Rigney describes ‘Redefined’ as a song “…about how music changed my life for the better”, with the lyrics telling the tale of him growing up, finding himself, and embracing change. A song of self-discovery and evolution, ‘Redefined’ might be the theme song for people seeking something new, something better, and, hopefully, discovering their identity.

If you take a quick gander at our reviews, you’ll find that Vincent J. Rigney is no new name or face at The Other Side Reviews. While some of his tracks have a bluesy or folksy or even some pop intonation, the one thing Rigney can promise is a bold rock flair. I’m unsure I have a particular favourite amidst the UK-based musician’s discography – although there is a bit of a soft spot for ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll King’ – but what I do know is that Rigney hasn’t disappointed thus far. I highly recommend ‘Redefined’ and look forward to some more releases.
