Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends – Happy People Won’t Hear (2026)
Hardly a band name one would forget, Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends already wriggles into your brain with their name, and the music is as captivating. The solo project of Swedish musician Arne Flyord, he travels across various musical realms from the universe of folk music to the galaxy of power-pop and makes an appearance in the nebula of Americana. Shooting across the sky and leaving a fiery flare, Flyord has caught our ears and eyes with songs like ‘Vagnar Av Guld’, ‘The Crow’ and ‘Sing-Along Songs’. Today, we take a moment to prepare ourselves and jump into the single, ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’.
Taken from his recent album, The King and The Sparrow, this version of ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’ is based on Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends 2024 single of the same name. Stylistically, The King and The Sparrow, in Flyord’s words, ”…covers familiar ground – touching on power-pop and Americana – but also digs deeper into Swedish folk music and showcases a more experimental approach”. ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’ dives into the signature brush of old-school power-pop/Britpop.
Produced by David Myhr and Arne Floryd, the new ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’ might be based on the original 2024 version, yet a reimaging of the track makes the arrangement weightier, more full-bodied, and has more substance. A strumming guitar glides along the melody, with Andreas Quincy Dahlbäck’s drums keeping a steady pace like an anchoring beat. A “quirky piano”, courtesy of David Myhr, brings a soothing vibe to the tune, peeping out from the melodic brush with a smiling face. While a strange set of strings adds something ethereal and cinematic to ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’.
The tune’s title is ‘Happy People Won’t Hear’, but happy people will definitely hear the mellifluous melody, Flyord’s bold vocals, and Myhr’s wistful backing vocals, giving it an optimistic, uplifting kick. This is only one of the 11 tracks on The Kind and The Sparrow, and I am eager to work my way through the album.
