Just Scott – Bad Guys (2022)

The brainchild of singer-songwriter Scott Feierstein, Just Scott has been described by Music Arena GH as “a musical genius”. Of course, it is not only Music Arena GH that is singing his praises, Just Scott is also turning heads on HubPages and TJPL News (to name but a few). Growing up in a musical family, Just Scott had the chance to watch his father play the guitar which influenced him to embrace his passion for playing instruments. While we are looking at his solo career, the US-based artist has experience performing with bands so he’s not a complete newbie to the scene. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Bad Guys’.

In an interview with Music Arena GH, Just Scott mentioned that his writing is inspired by “…past experiences, and sometimes other people’s lives and what I feel it must be like to be them…” In his new single ‘Bad Guys’, he takes a look at one of the lighter areas of life – dating. Yet, while this can be construed as a laidback theme, ‘Bad Guys’ has some complexity in the seemingly simple song. Just Scott explains that “the song is about how sometimes you have to be someone else to get the girl…sometimes a little smoke and mirrors to meet ‘the one’ is worth it.”

Following his more serious synth-driven single ‘Take Back The Night’, ‘Bad Guys’ is more upbeat, light-hearted and fun. The single retains the powerful synth-driven arrangement enhancing the brightness and jovial nature of ‘Bad Guys’ in its toe-tapping way. Taking you on a sonic rollercoaster with kaleidoscopic lights flitting before your eyes, the melody sends your soul soaring in an optimistic swirl – so, basically, it’s a lot of fun and joyfulness packaged in a bubblegum pink package.

While ‘Bad Guys’ has a contemporary synth-pop feel to it, there is a nostalgic flair taking us back to the 80s. Perhaps this “back to the future” sensation is what gives ‘Bad Guys’ its edgy and anthemic quality.
