LeFrike – Forsake All Money (2026)
A voice for the new generation of bedroom producers, Irish musician LeFrike weaves swooping electronica with breaths of psychedelia in a glittering, cinematic ambience. Layered with heavily edited loops and distorted elements, LeFrike (also known as Sohaila Lindheim) is one listening experience to leave you lost in a whirl of sound. With only one single on her Spotify – the one we’re about to review – this is but a quick taste of her music. So, join us as we take a step into this new sonic world.
Using an entirely DIY approach, ‘Forsake All Money’ is composed, penned and produced by LeFrike, with vocals by Simone May. A somewhat deceptive opening, bold, distorted beats immediately kick in, hinting at an up-tempo song; however, a sweep of synths subdues the heavier beats with its silky veil. While you are swept into a dream-pop soundscape, there is a kick of almost indie-rock vibes from the underlying beat. It’s kind of a bold bass keeping the pace with a “take this” attitude, while the dreamy synths wrap around, float atop, and dance.
An interplay of sorts between the indie and the dreamy, you have one foot in each camp. Heavy and crashing, but ethereal and whimsical, ‘Forsake All Money’ has weight. The thing is, while the melody can take you into a sonic swirl, there is profoundness lurking in its tune and lyricism. A song based on rage and the desire to be seen, heard, and acknowledged bounces from the harder section, while femininity and vulnerability seem to shine in the softer lilts. Speaking about the theme, LeFrike explains:
“It is a dedication to female rage. The built-up emotions within women that are desperate to come out. To forsake all money is to give up power and control, and this song is a rallying cry to the world that men release the power and allow women their time on top.”
