The Lazz – Observer (2026)
Originally thumbing his nose at the idea of AI-created music production, veteran artist Benjamin Lazzaro’s first instinct was that it lacked humanity, originality, authenticity and “the soul of a true player” – as is the case with so many musicians. Yet, Lazzaro also understood that AI was not a passing phase, but a pivot in the landscape. Instead of remaining jaded, he chose to “embrace the technology…”; hence, we have The Lazz. A human-AI hybrid, The Lazz finds that intersection between digital and human realities, blending live guitar and bass with AI-generated vocals, drums and effects. Join us as we explore The Lazz’s sonic world with ‘Observer’.
The third instalment in a four-part conceptual series, ‘Observer’ is a headfirst dive into hard-rock. A bold bass beats beneath a scorching guitar that soars, weaves, dips and dances across the melody. This is the live element, and you can hear the raw emotion, particularly in the powerful guitar solo, which, in my eyes, might be the best part of the track.
Now, let’s get into the AI-generated side of ‘Observer’. Crashing drums maintain the hard-rock foundation, while also bringing the oomph with its thrashing interjections. The female vocals are perfectly attuned to the track; however, and this is what gets me with AI, it seems there is passionate emotion oozing from every rich but rugged moment. You know it’s digitally created, but if you weren’t told, you would think this is just a fantastic, hard-hitting single wriggling into your brain and sticking there.
The melody itself is weighty and intricate, but the theme and lyricism are what hit home. The Lazz explains: “Set atop a mountain at the edge of reality, it follows a seeker who strips away fear, illusion, and limitation to awaken into a higher state of awareness. Drawing from mystical and philosophical themes, the track turns inner awakening into something epic, powerful, and visceral.”
In addition to the single, The Lazz released an official music video for ‘Observer’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
