Kings County – What Now (2026)
Standing with one foot in two decades of hard rock music, US-based band Kings County breathes life into nostalgic 90s sounds while embracing contemporary twists. In other words, they transcend time with their music and, with their ageless themes, call to generations across the board. With several critically acclaimed releases under their belt, the quartet turn heads with their streaming. Still, their live performances are as intoxicating as they rock stages alongside acts like Bon Jovi. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘What Now’.
Binding Joe Lopez’s crashing drums, Bill Kania and Steve Bells’ scorching guitars, and Robert Dexter’s bold bass, new single ‘What Now’ retains the heavy, hard-hitting, punch in the gut and slap in the face force of Kings County’s distinctive sound. Yet, while the track rocks about your brain with harmonic integrity, each element brings a specific sense of individual strength. For me, the drums hold a particular appeal alongside the searing guitar – it’s like an anchoring element that keeps a pace but also flings you in the air.
Recorded and produced by Chuck Alkazian, ‘What Now’ is melodically powerful, but it is the theme and lyricism that add a full-bodied attitude. Executed in Dexter’s rich vocals – from the melodic singing to the raucous shouts – ‘What Now’ deals with the timeless complexities of love and life. The band explain:
“The track explores the universal experience of a relationship gone wrong and the journey toward finding hope and clarity – a theme that resonates with listeners navigating their own emotional crossroads.”
So, what’s the overall verdict of Kings County’s ‘What Now’? It’s the shot of vodka at the end of the night that you know is going to hit you hard in the morning, but it’s totally worth it. What now? Well, turning up the speakers – that’s what’s now.
In addition to the single, Kings County released an official music video for ‘What Now’. You can view the video below and/ or on their YouTube channel.
