Røseland – Here’s To Life (2026)
Danish duo Røseland have given us a track that reads like a manual on how to lead a better, more fulfilling existence. That is what ‘Here’s To Life’ is in a nutshell. It has a really positive feel, which urges the listener to embrace life and everything that comes with it. And no matter what happens, everything will be okay.
The duo, comprising of Bastiaan Roos and Martijn Nijland, are seasoned audio professionals whose forte has been creating soundscapes for television. ‘Here’s To Life’ came about from 25-year-old Cubase audio files, which were lovingly remixed into what this track has become. Røseland are now channeling their extensive expertise into original music that radiates positivity and joy.
The track has a gorgeous guitar opening, it sounds like the recent work of Coldplay, The Script and Rudimental, the latter being one of the duo’s influences. Røseland treats us to empowering lyrics over a strong production and euphoric synths. The track has a great tempo to it, largely owing to the shuffle rhythm drumbeat. There is a warm sound which is geared up for summer.
The meaning behind the words to ‘Here’s To Life’ is best explained by Røseland themselves: “A song about the moments that shape us, the roads we’ve taken, and the memories we carry along the way. Take a moment, turn up the volume, and raise a glass to life”. Lyrically, the track delves into the process of growing old and all the life experiences we collect along the way – “Now the mirrors tell the truth / Silver lines where there was youth / But every mark and every scar / Reminds us of how strong we are”. These joyous yet reflective lyrics help to carry this track a long way. The chorus is particularly beautiful: “Here’s to friendship here’s to life / To every wrong and every right / To staying strong to staying free / To who we are and who we’ll be“.
Røseland have already released their follow-up single ‘Summer Night’, which is more of the same. Lush keys and snappy electronic drums seem to be this duo’s calling card. Røseland’s philosophy for creating music is: “don’t use old keys for new doors“.
“The best is yet to come” is the closing lyric to this uplifting track. If it also refers to Røseland’s musical output, then we should all be very excited indeed.
