A Chat with Heiðar Sigurðsson (21.07.2020)

Heiðar Sigurðsson is an Icelandic singer-songwriter and producer who has worked on all kinds of music over the years. Now, he is releasing his debut solo EP In A Spin. We sat down with Heiðar Sigurðsson (HS) to talk about the new EP, his career, music and much more!

OSR: Why did you choose to become a musician?

HS: I think I didn’t choose it. I can’t remember life without music.

OSR: What is the biggest problem you’ve had to face as a solo artist?

HS: Maybe it is not a problem, rather a challenge, to promote the music. That is something I have never done before and I think it is a fun and interesting task.

OSR: Do you play any instruments? If so, what?

HS: I play piano/keyboards, also an accordian and ukulele.

OSR: What do you enjoy most about being a musician and what do you hate most?

HS: I can’t think of anything I hate about being a musician but one of the things I like most is to be able to create something out of nothing.

OSR: Do you intend touring or doing live gigs as a solo artist? If so, where?

HS: No, this is just a home/studio project.

OSR: Is there a theme or message in the EP In A Spin?

HS: Not really, these are just random songs from my catalog.

OSR: What is the best and worst advice you’ve been given?

HS: I try to forget all the bad advice ASAP. On of the best advice I’ve been given, it is to plan my writing and producing in detail, schedule it and put a deadline on it.

OSR: Do you miss the camaraderie of a band since starting your solo career?

HS: No not really, I am actually still playing with a band sometimes.

OSR: Do you have a message for your fans?

HS: Please share my music if you like it!

OSR: Do you have any more releases planned?

HS: I will release another EP 1st of December 2020
